ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to my supervisor, Sir Nor Azman for his guidance, advise and support for me in develop this project. Title : Industrial Day ( Presentation ) For FYP 2 Student Introduction:  The Industrial Day (Presentation) for FYP2 student at 15 November 2017 ( Wednesday ), from 9 am - 10 am. During the presentation, my project ( Development of Undervoltage and Overcurrent Protection Device ) is presented to the assessor. The assessor that asses me are, Mr Shaiful Bin Osman and Miss Aina ( External Assessor ).  Everything is working well as expected. During the presentation, all the concept, component, flow of the circuit and mechanism are explained to the both assessor in detailed to give them the understanding about my project. The assessors give good impression and focus during my presentation. All the result are showed as a proof that this project are successfully follow the objective. Title : Poster for Industrial Day For the incoming industrial day at 15 November 2017 ( Wednesday ), all fyp2 student need to design a poster. Objectives: Completing the design and print the poster based on format according to UniKL guideline in A1 size. Method: Design the poster using Microsoft Office Publisher and print in A1 size. 1. Title: Testing the Circuit at Laboratory Objectives: 1. To make sure the circuit is fully function and follow the objectives 2. To use the equipment and power source from the power laboratory to test the circuit 3. To gather the result after the circuit is tested Method: 1. In order to test the circuit, I enter the power laboratory PEL114 to used the equipment there 2. The equipment needed in lab in order to test the circuit is used. As example: Voltmeter, AC source, Ammeter and load. 3.The circuit is calibrated in order to operate according to the real situation. 4. The result that generated after test the circuit is gathered. Title : Final Assembly of the Project  Objectives: 1. Complete the final assembly of the project before going to industrial day 2. To make sure everything related to the project function and follow the plan Method: 1. Assemble all the circuit and place into the casing while arranged them neatly 2. Title: Finalize the Arrangement  and Shape of the Product Objectives: 1. Provide full arrangement of circuit in order to transform it to final product 2. Find the suitable casing for the product 3. Design the label of the product Method: 1. The circuit is arranged so that the flow of the circuit is easy to understand. It also can help to make  the product more organize and neat. 2. The size and shape of the casing is classified. The shape and size of the casing is follow according to the total space needed for the circuit to fit in the casing. 3. The casing is labeled according to the function of the project. The image of the casing Conclusion: The size and shape of the casing is found. The casing is suitable and the circuit is can full fit into the case as the circuit is fully arranged.

Title: PCB Fabrication and Drilling Objectives - To transform the circuit from PCB design to Printed Circuit Board - To allow the component to be solder on the board -To build the circuit using trace of the copper on the copper plate - To hold the components in the single unit of the circuit Method In this week, i started to fabricate the PCB by using simple method. The method that  I use is a "diy" method. It means it is not involved fabrication machine. I use the Laser Printer to print the circuit on the PCB transfer paper. Then,  i ironed the printed side of the transfer paper to the copper plate. After ironing is completed. I dissolved the copper plate in the Iron Chloride solution to remove the unwanted copper. Title: Research about Transistor and Current Sensor  Objectives - Improve the efficiency of relay tripping by finding the suitable transistor - Research about the functionality of the current sensor to improve protection for overcurrent - Understanding the transistor and current datasheet Method - the possible transistor model for the relay driver is classified. The short listed transistor that have potential to be used is from model S9013 and BC547. Both transistor is a NPN transistor. - The datasheet about the transistor is reviewed. - Read the datasheet of the current sensor BC547 Pinout ACS712 Current Sensor Datasheet ACS712 Current Sensor Datasheet Conclusion The model that will  be used in the circuit is decided. The model is BC547 since its provide more stability for the relay tripping. The principle of the current sensor is understood. So it will help in the setting for the over current protection.

Title: Designing the Circuit and Simulation. Objectives: 1. To design the circuit that will provide protection to the undervoltage and overcurrent condition 2. To find the suitable component and equipment in order to provide the stability and functionality to the circuit. 3. About the project ( Synopsis )

Electrical devices play a very important role to the human civilization that begin a long time ago.From that time, many improvement have been done in order to maintain,upgrade and make the devices efficient to all the peoples and surrounding. The electrical protection devices  can make the user to prevent the all valuable devices from damage. The purpose of this project is to give the protection to load from break and damage from under-voltage and over-current based on limitation of the voltage and current using tripping mechanism. Its can be used as a protection to home appliances such as television, computer from under-voltage and over-current as well as fluctuation that caused by sudden failure of the supply. There are many types of electrical protection system that have been build based on different mechanism and concept. Title: Block Diagram Objectives : To illustrate the overall system of the Project To show how the working principle of the project Content : During researching about my project, i have come out with this block diagram Block Diagram Undervoltage and Overcurrent Protective Device Input: AC Input: The protection device will get power from this input Power Supply: In this level, the input from AC input will be step down using step down transformer in order to suit with voltage range in the electronic device. This block included rectifier circuit Process Current Sensor: The main component in order to provide protection against overcurrent fault Preset Voltage: The voltage set to suit with the equipment Output Relay: The relay is as SPDT Relay which activated by the IC7408 via transistor, makes under normal mains supply voltage and brakes under abnormal mains supply voltage.

Title : Research and Finding In this week, Sir Azman registered my name and the title of the project under his supervision to the FYP coordinator and FYP website. I should be able to check the application status on the fyp UniKL BMI website (  FYP unikl bmi Website  ). When my name appear on the website, i officially under the supervision of Sir Azman  for my FYP for the two semester. As my supervisor , Sir Azman will guide me in the project as recommend approaches, tehcniques and appropriate method to achieve the project objectives. Title : Project Titles Comfirmation Before choose a good project titles, i have to do some research. The project title is important because the student need to know the ability in order to complete the project. The title that will choose is make sure not too advance and too easy. After completing the research about choosing the title, i decided to present my title to Sir Azman. After analyze and see my title, Sir Azman approved my title to proceed in fyp1. The title that i choose is Development of Undervoltage and Overcurrent Protection Device. To proceed after approved titles, Sir Azman asked me to come out with my own synopsis for the project in order to register the title to the fyp1 coordinator. Title: Research About the UniKL FYP1 Regulation and Requirement, Supervisor Major of Study and Way to Choose the Good Title In this week, i do some research about the regulation of fyp1 in UniKL BMI and study the requirement in order to complete this course. After did some research, the  assesment in this course consist of three part; Progress Report, Presentation and Project Proposal.  In order to choose the right titles, i did some research about the field that i want do the project. In this week, i try to see the detail of study and major of my supervisor Sir Azman. As i can see, i confident that Sir Azman is suit with field of my fyp1 (Power Quality).  I am interested in Power Quality so the title that i will choose is related to the Power Quality. In order to complete the final year project course, student must choose a lecturer as supervisor to supervise and guide the fyp student so that the progress of project will run smoothly. So i decided to find the lecturer to supervise me and give me guidance how to conduct this project. I choose Sir Nor Azman Bin Othman as my supervisor. Sir Azman is a lecturer from the Electrical Section. When i contact him to ask him whether i can be under his supervision, Sir Azman still have slot me to allow me be under him.
