Titles: Study about Power Quality

Objectives:

  • Obtain the better understanding about power quality
  • Investigate how power quality problem effect the user and equipment
  • Identify the power quality problem
Content
Power Quality
  • Power Quality is a set of electrical boundaries that allows a piece of equipment to function in its intended manner without significant loss of performance or life expectancy.
  • Power Quality define from two context, whether the power is consume or the power is supply. In the generator, power quality refers to the ability of the generator to generate power at their frequency, which is 60Hz with a bit variation. However, it definition is different when power quality is define in transmission and distribution level. In the transmission and distribution of power, power quality refers to the voltage staying at range below or above 5 percent

Conclusion : A better understanding about the field related to the final year project is obtained. Further research is needed according to the selected power quality problem that based on title.


Titles: Research and Study about Undervoltage and Overcurrent

Objectives:

  • Obtain better understanding about undervoltage and Overcurrent
  • Classified the cause of undervoltage and overcurrent
  • To study the effect of undervoltage and overcurrent to the end user
  • To find the method to provide isolation to the equipment from damage that cause by both power quality problem
Content:
  • Conduct research about undervoltage and overcurrent
  • Read the book and academic paper that discuss about these power quality problem
  • Find the effect of undervoltage and overcurrent as many as possible
  • Find and plan the way to protect the equipment from both problem
Result: 
  1. Student obtain better understanding about the project 
  2. Ideas are generated after conduct this research
Conclusion
The progress for Chapter 1 is smooth after conduct this research,

PROGRESS REPORT WEEK 13 FYP 2

1. Title: Testing the Circuit at Laboratory Objectives: 1. To make sure the circuit is fully function and follow the objectives 2. To use the equipment and power source from the power laboratory to test the circuit 3. To gather the result after the circuit is tested Method: 1. In order to test the circuit, I enter the power laboratory PEL114 to used the equipment there 2. The equipment needed in lab in order to test the circuit is used. As example: Voltmeter, AC source, Ammeter and load. 3.The circuit is calibrated in order to operate according to the real situation. 4. The result that generated after test the circuit is gathered.
